What the company told investors IREN on the Oklahoma site, in the months before the county found the project would not happen without the abatement
The scarce thing in this industry is not money, it is power. IREN says so itself: “fully secured power remains scarce.” By the end of 2025 the company had paid $105.1 million for a 1,600 MW connection right in Oklahoma, and by February it was telling investors that power was secured. The county’s committee found in April that the investment would more likely than not not occur without the tax districts. This page sets the company’s own words beside that finding. The filings do the work; the posts below are the plain-English version, and they are not filed documents.
Standard of proof on this page
These are self-published statements, not filed documents. A LinkedIn post is written by its author, can be edited or deleted by its author, and proves only that somebody chose to say something in public on a particular day. It is not sworn, not filed, and not subject to any penalty for being wrong.
Everything here is checkable by anyone with a LinkedIn account, and the profiles are named below so you can check it. But nothing on this page should be reported, quoted or relied upon as though it carried the weight of the record on the rest of this site. Where a statement here matters, the note says what filed document would have to be produced to settle it.

- Author's position

- Tabled by the Board of County Commissioners on 22 June 2026. Not adopted. No resolution number, adoption date, filing deadline or election date exists.
- Basis
- Public posts on LinkedIn, read while signed in to an ordinary account, together with the dates already established from filed documents elsewhere on this site. No non-public information was received or relied upon, and no private message was sent to anybody named here.
- How the dates were obtained
- LinkedIn displays only a relative age — “6mo”, “1yr”. The exact dates below are derived from each post’s own activity identifier, which carries the time the post was created in its leading bits. The method is arithmetic on a public identifier, it is reproducible by anybody, and it is the reason this page can give a day rather than a season.
- Who pays for this
- Nobody. This site runs on a server the author pays for. No organisation funds the work and no one is paid to do it. Costs so far are a domain, server capacity, certified copies from the Secretary of State, postage, and the fees public bodies charge for records — $248.50 to date, itemised on the records page with the invoice or receipt behind every line. That figure will grow as the remaining 9 requests go out. If the funding position ever changes it will be said here.

“Secured”, said to investors
the one line that bears hardest on the finding“5/ Power portfolio — We added a new 1.6GW site in Oklahoma, taking total secured power to 4.5GW. Fully secured power remains scarce, and this scale supports ongoing customer engagement.”
Daniel Roberts, co-chief executive of IREN, in a quarterly update posted to LinkedIn, February 2026 — exact day not yet pinned
The committee’s finding, made on 21 April 2026, is that the investment would more likely than not not occur without the two districts. The company’s own co-chief executive described the Oklahoma site to investors as added and its power as secured roughly ten weeks earlier, in the same post that reports contracted revenue and construction sequencing against a customer deployment schedule.
That is not proof the finding was wrong. It is a public statement by the applicant’s chief executive, made before the finding, that is difficult to read alongside it — and it is exactly the kind of statement the committee could have asked about while the applicant’s representatives were in the room. Whether it did is a question for the minutes, and the minutes do not record it.
What this shows, and what it does not
What it shows. The company had the scarce input in hand before the county made its finding. IREN paid $105.1 million for a 1,600 MW connection right between October and December 2025, and by February its co-chief executive was describing that power to investors as secured — ten weeks before the committee found the investment would not occur without the districts. The posts add that the company was recruiting for grid connections across North America in October 2025, seven weeks before the committee first met, and was celebrating Oklahoma publicly in February.
What it does not show. It does not show that the Jason Date whose posts these are is the Jason Date who signed Emerald ProjectCo’s Oklahoma qualification as Secretary. The profile gives the name, the employer, the industry and a location consistent with IREN’s British Columbia operations and its Sydney origin; the filing gives a name and an office. Those agree, and that is an inference, not an identification. LinkedIn nowhere says he is an officer of Emerald ProjectCo, and this page does not say so either.
And it does not settle the finding. Securing power is not the same as committing to build without an abatement. A connection right is an asset that can be resold or left idle, land options are options, and $112 million against a project described as up to $25 billion is the price of keeping a choice open. A company can hold all of it and still, honestly, condition the final investment on tax treatment. What the record does is move the question: the scarcest input was already secured, on the company’s own account, before the committee found the project would not happen without help. That is a question the committee could have put to the applicant’s representatives while they were in the room, and the minutes do not record that it did.
It also shows nothing at all about what the county knew, when it knew it, or what any commissioner or committee member believed. Nobody named on this page is accused of anything. The argument here is about a document and a finding, and it stays there.
Still to pin down
what would move a line from this page onto the record- The date of the quarterly update. The post says the update was published “earlier today.” IREN’s Q2 FY2026 investor release carries a date, and so does the corresponding filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Pinning the post to that release turns a February approximation into a filed date, and lets the “secured power” line be quoted from the company’s own investor material rather than from a social-media post. Until that is done the day is shown here as [Feb 2026 — day TBD].
- Whether the Secretary and the development officer are the same person. Settled by the company, or by a records request that produces the applicant’s representatives by name. Until then the two are kept apart on this page.
- Who represented the applicant before the committee. The minutes record that six IREN representatives attended the first meeting and do not name them. That is one of the gaps the records requests are written to close.
